Overweight: A Serious Health Problem

Overweight is a condition where a person’s weight is higher than what is considered healthy for his or her height. According to the World Health Organization (WHO), a person is overweight if his or her body mass index (BMI) is equal to or more than 25, and obese if his or her BMI is equal to or more than 30. Overweight is not just a cosmetic concern, but a serious health problem that can have many negative consequences. Some of the health risks associated with overweight are: Cardiovascular diseases: Overweight can increase the blood pressure, cholesterol levels, and triglyceride levels, which can damage the blood vessels and the heart.
